That's more or less what I've done. One of my preachy shitlib friends really fucked up his life and went to prison for a while. He now has a lower social standing than me, so he can't lecture me anymore. It's interesting. I see him every few months.

I have a black friend I see maybe once a year. I find myself really watching what I say around him ever since that BLM shit radicalized so many blacks. But there's really been no drama except on Facebook when I questioned the St. Floyd narrative.

I don't ever lie about my politics. I just don't talk about it. That's easy to do. Maybe not for millennials and zoomers, whose brains developed in a time when politics invaded every aspect of your life, but it wasn't always like that. I remember it and I try to continue living that way. As best I can, at least.

Also, I'm old and married so I rarely hang out with anyone other than my wife anyway. We have a great relationship. As long as she understands me, I don't need much from anyone else. I have friendships where literally ALL we talk about is music when we see each other once every two years.

I'm pretty comfortable with keeping my interactions with these people free of politics. Maybe that's because I'm old enough to remember when none of this mattered and, while political disagreements could get fiery, we weren't trained yet to interpret the other person's views in the worst light possible (Right wing = NAZIS!; Left wing = PEDOS!).

Eh, that's not that old of a thing. Remember the 90s? Political correctness was for politicians only. Specifically those running for a high office. For everyone else it was all about individualism and being offensive, especially in music.

So am I wrong for not hero worshipping soldiers? I grew up around a lot of JROTC faggots and their post 9/11 play COD in real life fantasies, and found a lot of them to be insufferable. I don’t know how many I knew actually enlisted but I remember seeing the wife of one in a facebook group called “Take down the not all soldiers are heroes facebook group” because how dare you think otherwise. I know military cumdumpsters wives think they’re honorary soldiers but in reality they’re just fathering kids for guys who think procreating will make their deaths even less meaninglessness. Her husband was just a tank jockey who served for a few years so I’ve been told.

Anyone can enlist, but to quote Zero, what am I fighting for? And don’t say freedom or some tired shit.

I have no sympathy for the military. Never wanted to have anything with its hierarchy and having assholes yelling at me without me being able to yell back at them. I know, perhaps it's necessary for it to function properly, but doesn't mean I have to admire or even respect it. I'd rather pay my respects to the garbage collectors, the true guardians of civilization in modern times. Have them stop showing up for a couple of weeks and tell me who's more needed.
