I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to the production of the new Daredevil season.

Apparently the original script of the season was appropriating the James Gunn/Whedon shit and also distancing itself from the Netflix characters, and they got well into shooting it before the shittiness of what they produced got to them and the season got reshot with new showrunners/writers.

New season's apparently a Frankenstein monster, in other words.

This is old, but I attempted to watch "Birds of Prey" last night. The DC movie that I remember was still in theaters when the 2020 pandemic shut everything down. It's also very likely Margot Robbie's last time playing Harley Quinn. It's a movie I've been mildly curious about ever.since I saw someone describe it positively as a "psychotic, violent chick flick" and suggest that it's a modern cult movie. I found it streaming on Max and I gave it a try.

And OH MY GOD, IT'S BAD. The ideal audience for it seems to be staunch feminists who have no attention span. It feels less like you're watching a movie and more like you're flipping through some crazy bitch's TikTok account. It never sits still or allows a moment that takes longer than fifteen seconds to happen.

Also, the director and credited writer are both women and this is vagina comedy at its worst. It's WACKY and ZANY 100% of the time, but not funny even 1% of the time. It wants so badly to be outrageous and offensive, but there's nothing behind it except to prove with all of its might that women aren't as delicate as you think. It's not confident. It's shrill. It's a used tampon shoved in your face for two hours. I'm sure someone has that fetish, but I don't.

On the other hand, I am a cisgender male Trump voter who comes to places like DHI to make fun of troons so maybe director Cathy Yan would consider my distaste for her movie to be a good thing.

Also, I watched an interview clip with Margot Robbie talking about "Birds of Prey" and I had no idea until this weekend that she's Australian. She's like Christian Bale in that she puts on an American accent in every movie I've seen her in. I thought she was from California or something.
