>my hubby would never hit me if only he didn't have booze
This has strong "I can fix him!" vibes.

The problem with alcohol is that it varies by person and life circumstance, in terms of how dangerous it is. Some people have an addictive personality, get hooked and ruin their life. Other people don't normally have that kind of personality, but alcohol is the "one particular thing" that gets into them and ruins their life. But the part of the alcohol story that you don't hear about are all the people out there who can have a drink or two now and then, but then put the booze down for years at a time. The kind of person for whom alcohol has no appeal, outside of social situations (or tasting.)Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 2:38 pmI was going to mention that prohibition obviously doesn't work. Perhaps alcohol abuse is just one of those problems you can't really fix. You either realize if it's not for you, or you don't - and there's no way to really force someone into that realization.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 1:32 pmIt's like with waifus. You have to be careful to not have them control your laifu.Burgers tried to get rid of it once, but we all know how that ended...Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 6:18 amIt's incredible how much damage it can cause and still be a legal and socially accepted drug.
Besides, the Temperance movement was mostly a bunch of cranky women trying political activism, and allowing that was THE seminal mistake.
For most of human history, the majority of people drank watered-down alcoholic beverages as an alternative to dirty water. It's not a surprise to see ancient people drinking beverages made from either fermentation or boiling water. Most people can drink a 2-4% alcoholic beverage and not go absolutely apeshit, ruining their lives and sucking dicks in the gutter (gutter dicks.)
I have alcoholic family members and it runs in my family. It took me a very long time to accept that alcohol is not a great evil. It is a mirror that reflects what already is present in your soul. Some people cannot be ensnared by liquor, just as many cannot become addicted to gambling.
Banning alcohol doesn't work because the people turning to vices are seeking an escape. They are determined to find it and they will do so, no matter what. Besides, how can you outlaw a fermentation process that's well-understood and easily performed by any hick with a backwoods still?
Only about five or six percent of drinkers become alcoholics. Those aren't numbers to play around with, but it's not nearly as bad as you'd think.

These e-celebs get addicted because of who they were before they discovered drinking. I suspect many of them have delusions of grandeur and drink because they're not at the status level where they perceive themselves.

Man, wished I got here sooner. Styxe is done. You can't live your life giving advice to then commit a domestic. Bitch was probably asking for it, but the public gives zero fucks.

Like I said, women know how to get close to a man, learn exactly what infuriates or hurts him most and then do it.
A man who doesn't understand this about women should not get close to a woman.

He's smarter than Nick, we'll have to wait and see if he really is a master of the blade rather than him blurt it out on a drunkstream.

Maybe Styx should continue fucking his sister if the incest rumors are true. It may be degenerate, but at least it'll relieve stress.
