So he's in hell for drunk driving manslaughter or something like that? I guess that doesn't explain the horniness though.

I don't read ahead. I read it, and type out my thoughts as I go, but, here's what I think is happening based on Bennet's ABOUT page in the back.
Just in case someone cares about spoilers. This is just a guessShow
Bennett White is an American writer and YouTuber. Shadow Dream Girl is his first novel, and was partially inspired by personal events during the Tubbs Fire disaster of 2017, as well as the LNU Lightning Complex fires of 2020. His sources of creative inspiration for Shadow Dream Girl include the works of Nick Hornby and Clive Barker, the films of Kevin Smith and Richard Kelly, as well as the music of Joshua Homme, Philip Glass, Hajime Mizoguchi, and Ludvig Forssell.
I think Ian is passed out in a burning building and is reliving his regrets or some shit.

A bit late to get moderately interesting.
The obviously fake woman is fake. Okay. Could've used a bit more subtle build-up. You know, instead of the Clerks wannabe filler.

I agree that this is some Jacob's Ladder kinda shit. None of that is real. The woman is entirely imaginary and even his friend seeing her is imaginary. She's like Tyler Durden in that way, just that she isn't himself. That is unless absolutely everything is all a dream.

Either way, shit sucks. Awful tryhard writing, poor buildup, nothing atmosphere and lots of wasted pages.

There's obviously a fire element to the plot, but with the reliving days and the Clive Barker namedrop I think there is a punishment aspect somewhere in here as well.

Exactly, the entire first half of the book is a complete waste. You need maybe two chapters to set the situation and then bring in porn-zombie-sex freak girl and get on with it. Instead there are a ton of useless pages about tacos and pizza and shitty movie opinions.

WHAT IN THE EVER FUCKING HELL AM I READING???!!
An incel trying to write an erotic scene.
You can tell just by reading this wall of inane bullshit that Spurdo has never experienced something even remotely similar in his entire life - nowadays even Chad Thundercock may find it difficult to be in a situation like this, with the meagain culture of victimhood.
You can tell Benito and the wife are two handicapped dorks who don't know how to touch each other.

Why does she keep touching him at the slightest provocation? Has Benito spent too much time in Italy already?
Never happened to him, in Italy or anywhere else.

Spoony won't behave like this, but Benito would.

I read some of his novels because i liked his movies, and was disappointed about how sex and relationship-centered they were - themes i don't particularly give a shit about.
But what does this story have to do with Clive Barker?
A whore making out with another whore to receive attention from men?

Of course, the only movie leftists know when it comes to psychological horror, because of muh Silent Hill bad ending (and the monsters spazzing out).
I guess both Saya No Uta and The Machinist are too niche and difficult for Benito's brain.

Like everyone said, that last chapter was plain retarded. It was obvious that it was a dream because the bitch was acting the way she was. No one would believe that a woman would be all over a guy like him.

The chapter with the tits melting off into his hands was the only good part of the book so far. He should have included a lot more of that and more incel cringe. Left off all the blathering at the start about muh depressions, muh mental illnesses.

Imagine the potential if he'd gone full Hatred (the game) and cringed as much cringe as he could cringe. At least it wouldn't be boring! Bennett should have written her vagina having teeth and ripping him apart. Then the vagmonster could attack Tokyo while a Lindsay stand-in criticizes his real-life dick size.

I feel like the only appropriate ending for this novel involves a clock tower and trench coat.

The DHI Autistic Book Club

Shadow Dream Girl
by Bennet “The Sage” White
Chapter 4: Fuck Bennet. Fuck this book. And fuck you!
protected by Fair Use, bitch

That's not a typo up there. This is chapter 4. Yes, after chapter 10. Bennett is doing a thing.
The first paragraph is exactly like the origianl chpater 4. He gets on the fucking bus, and tries to remember.
I'm drunk BTW, fortunately this chapter is only 4 pages. Here's the last few paragraphs.
he had made as close to peace as he could with the fact that there were going to be numerous sections of his life that were forever out of reach. What did bother him, though, was that playing memory detective, following the tangled and interwoven paths of his life, would often unearth moments he would rather forget.
What was the last thing you remembered before you conked out?
He placed himself back in the office, cataloging the recent releases and placing them in their plastic shells. From there, he played out the entire run of his day: the shelving, the checking out of rentals for customers, answering their inane questions about if they had that movie where what's-his-face and what's-his-face did that thing with that other guy, all before he had his nightly dinner with Stan. He pieced together the semblance of an argument, which was probably started by Stan, as well as the memory of feeling attacked afterward.
But as Ian tried to push forward, a sudden thought sprouted, forming a bramble that cordoned him off from the path. Was he replaying that day in his head, or was he replaying the day before? Or maybe even the day before that?
Every day is the same.
It was a burr in his mind. No matter how he tried to shake the realization, it dug further into his thoughts. Compulsively, Ian followed the thought as it splintered and branched in different directions, guiding him back to his first day. No, the first few weeks were different. They were-
Who are you?
End of chapter.
