I just hope he doesn't screw up ma boi Ide.

I need to read this stuff on train trips so people who look at it will leave in disgust, and I have all the seats to myself.
If it's on the phones it's a little too small for that.
Buy good books then, not weebshit. At least cover the weebshit with a porno mag cover or something so the train passengers don't think you're a complete degenerate.
Good books aren't worth paying for either.

I mean, you could carry the logic far enough and say that anything non-essential to life isn't worth paying for.

Going out to eat isn't worth paying for, just make your own food every day and never deviate.
Going to sportsball games isn't worth paying for.
Drinking with friends isn't worth paying for.
Weights aren't worth paying for, just do bodyweight exercises forever.
Television isn't worth paying for (and I mean paying to own a television, not paying for cable.)

About the only things "worth" paying for, in the sense they contribute to staying alive, would be shit like a computer (to work/find work,) a house, utilities (basic ones only though,) internet, a single piece of furniture, a bed just large enough for your frame, the cheapest car you can afford that runs reliably, food to eat (the cheapest but most healthy you can buy,) water to drink (and only water, nothing else.)

There are tons of books you can't find ripped online, and the experience of reading online isn't nearly as cozy as reading IRL. Books don't require electricity, can be easily accessed during power outages and will last for generations if treated well. Books also appreciate in value past a certain point, and most OoP books I have seen did so dramatically.

I mean, you can read The Iliad or Count of Monte Cristo on your fucking laptop or tablet if you want to bro, but I think that's kinda lame compared to reading a large print, hardbound translation with plenty of liner notes and historical context. Many of those liner notes, translator's introductions, historical lessons etc have never been reprinted online.

It's e-reader all the way for me. Best of both worlds.

I was a big fan of the 1980s 3-part OVA of Area 88.
I knew that the manga was a huge epic and had to be condensed into 3.5 hours.
So I thought I'd check out the 2004 TV series. I'm about half way through. It's so ugly compared to the 80s version. The early 2000s was such a dark age for anime. These fighter jets look like Playstation 2 graphics. And the characters have this god-awful "outsourced to Chinese/Korean sweatshops" look. Forever stuck in lousy 480i.

Area 1488 mango is supposed to turn into utter nonsense at the end. Like they get scifi weapons and shit. I know this more by reputation as it's not translated.
The TV series is something I've been meaning to watch but never getting around to.
Its supposed to have at least one real good episode that's an anime original story.
I never realized until a few months ago that it apparently used loisensed music from Avex's Cyber Trance series to push records. That's funny if true.

It's not much better nowadays, where everything is animated 100% digitally and looks like a shitty ps3 game cutscene instead of a ps2 cutscene.

I can't stress enough that people in this thread who haven't seen Redline should watch it. If only our timeline had diverged and that style of hand animation had become dominant. It's easy to see why it didn't though. Too much work. Too much effort for something most people view as disposable.

Reminds me how my favorite cripple waifu movie turns into a The Who AMV to condense 2+ chapters worth of worldbuilding into 2 minutes.

Dude, have you seen shit like Master of Ragnarok? That isekai haremshit to end all isekai haremshits has 3D battles that don't even reach ps1 cutscene quality.

I've been meaning to check it out. But I know it's somewhat of a sequel to a 4-part OVA called "Trava: Fist Planet". Do I have to watch that first?

You don't need to see or do anything before watching Redline. Except maybe fap to a few F-Zero GX cutscenes to get in the mood.
