They're perpetually depressed losers, and they can't mentally separate a person talking on youtube and a person coming to their home and talking to them. For them, they see Noah as someone who has visited them and befriended them and made them less lonely years ago.

Their suffering makes them virtuous and special and relieves them of any responsibilities. Of course they're directionless losers who have never accomplished anything, have you see the daily struggles they go through?
