Well, it was an interesting alternate cut. But I don't feel like it's a "definitive" replacement version.

I know there are some people that really hate Rocky IV for some reason. I would recommend this edit to them, as it has a much more "serious" tone to it. Meaning less 80s cheese, and IMHO, a bit less fun.

Stallone added a SEVEN MINUTE recap of Rocky 3 at the beginning. You know Sly, if I wanted to see Rocky III, I'd watch Rocky III. All scenes with Sico the Robot have been deleted. And strangely, Stallone removed almost all of his ex-wife's dialogue.

That music video scene of Rocky driving his car is still in there. I always thought that part was just to pad the runtime out.

Any chance any of the fight scenes are any better? I always laugh when Rocky tries to block shots with his face. When I saw Rocky V and the plot was 'You have brain damage Rocky', I was like 'No shit'

Some people have said that they are improved. I'm not one of those guys that has the (original) movie memorized, so I didn't catch every change. I know they changed the Creed-Drago match so that it's not so one-sided against Apollo.

The ending is a little less corny. Gorbechev doesn't stand up and give Rocky the slow clap. Instead, the Soviet Politburo just kind of silently slink away in shame.

I did some more reading and Brigitte Neilsen's character was never in the script. Stallone just put her in the movie because he was fucking her. I suppose that was the reasoning for removing her. But, I actually thought she was good in that role, so I think cutting her was a mistake.

Yes, that's the worst of the original 6 movies, and it was the one that really needed a new edit. BUT.... Stallone didn't direct that one, and the director is dead. So I don't know if he has the (legal) rights to dick around with that one or not.
