Volition, just like SNK and Atari, exists in name only. Saints Row has been dead for a while and I couldn't care less for whatever the garbage masquerading as SR ends up as.

SNK has some of its old staff still in it, which is why it hurts seeing them like that. Volition on the other hand just lost on of their final original members due to Stage Four cancer(R.I.P.) and the other staff members leaving after Saint's Row 3(going to THQ to develop Darksiders 1), Saint's Row 4(helping with the development of the WWE games), layoffs during the Agents of MAYHEM development and a ton of layoffs after that. Oh and they got bought out by Deep Silver and Koch Media because of course they would be, why the fuck wouldn't European EA buy them.

Look, I don't care if you're technically Volition and this is technically your IP. Because technically, any Cthulhu novel written now is also not violating any intellectual property. Doesn't make it canonical, doesn't make it worth paying attention to.

Nor does the claim it's a reboot hold any water. It's Saints Row in name only. A name you needed, because you know your gay shit can't stand on its own.
