I love it, but it's likely because I grew up playing it, and managed to get into it before fandoms ruin everything like they always do -- was able to enjoy it for at least 10 years before I realized, oh, people actually made porn and slash fiction of these child characters. This is why we can't have nice things.

The only thing I do hate about Mother and Earthbound in particular is that it "inspires" shit like Undertale that's completely missing the idea.

I enjoyed Undertale, but GODDAMN the fandom didn't make it easy. I'd barely beaten the tutorial level before learning that people REALLY want that kid to bang the Goat Mom. At least Earthbound didn't feature an actual DeviantArt apology/inflation fetish character -- that actually wore a fedora -- as a secret boss.

I never went back to it, it was a one and done for me, appreciated what Toby did, but that fandom legitimately freaks me out.
