Not surprising, really. Animals are pretty fucking good at what they're doing, and it's tricky beating them at their own game. We don't have much in terms of raw physical super powers besides endurance.

You just have to prepare them correctly. Take someone like Chantal or Tammy Slaton (aka that extreme deathfat who has a large fat deposit on her forehead and barely looks like a human being at this point), keep them locked up for about 2 days without any food, and then let them loose. The ensuing event will not be for the faint of heart.

Deathfats are often like alcoholics. You'd think they could be ultimate competitive drinkers/eaters. But they are often done surprisingly early. It's the regularity and the fact that they eat/drink all fucking day long with barely any pause that makes them consume so much.
Actual competition need preparation, training and the discipline to be willing to push yourself to the limit. Neither of them have those talents. Their lack of discipline is what got them to where they are in the first place.
