STD
Re: STD
B-but it's "brave" and "progressive", you literal Nazi brute!!! They were only "paying homage" to George Takei after all. Who cares if it was inconsistent with Sulu's character? It's an alternate universe timeline for the younger millennial generation now, so they can do whatever they want.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Wed Aug 02, 2017 6:40 pmNot to mention there was all that controversy last year (or whenever Star Trek Beyond Awful came out) because nuSulu had a husband and a gay AIDS baby.
Seriously though, fuck Simon Pegg and the rest of these libshit writers.

Re: STD
George Takei didn't even agree with it. They did it to appease and pay tribute to him and his response was just 'Make your own gay characters'

Re: STD
I read an article about the show today and it described a scene while shooting where an actor adlibbed the phrase, "For God's sake."
The writer then made him do another take because, "There is no God in Star Trek."
Pretty sure McCoy said lines like that all the time.

I'm fairly sure as well. I do know that normal phrases of speech weren't forcefully changed to something silly because they take the viewer out of the experience and because there's no reason for it.
We still use idioms that are outdated by hundreds of years and even though my location is just about as non-religious as you could possibly expect a place to be nobody bats an eye or tries to say something different than "Oh my god!". You'd have to be le autiste superb to take it as a proclamation of belief and not just something people say in disbelief, shock or surprise because it's common.

Roddenberry might have pushed something that ridiculous for TNG, along with a whole host of other retarded shit that was thankfully mostly dropped after he fucked off and then died.

I think people overestimate how libshitted he was. I mean, he was pretty badly of a libshit but don't forget the amount of, what would today be seen as clear-cut, muhsoggyknees that was in the OG series. I say judge the man on what he actually did and not what he would've done if he was alive these days.Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:16 amRoddenberry might have pushed something that ridiculous for TNG, along with a whole host of other retarded shit that was thankfully mostly dropped after he fucked off and then died.

Re: STD
Gene was something of a hypocrite. How bad of a guy he was depends on who you listen to. I honestly think much of his liberalism was simply a ruse to get into chicks' panties.
He got much worse in the '70s after he started believing his own hype.

Re: STD
It was a '60s series and it was controlled by the networks who had at least some expectation that this show would appeal to your average, red-blooded American male of the 1960s. The Next Generation, however, was almost completely in his control, and reflects that.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:26 amI mean, he was pretty badly of a libshit but don't forget the amount of, what would today be seen as clear-cut, muhsoggyknees that was in the OG series.
'They wouldn't take drugs in the future', 'there wouldn't be any religion in the future', 'there wouldn't be petty interpersonal conflicts between co-workers in the future', 'men would sometimes wear dresses in the future' are all things he did/saidKugelfisch wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:26 amI say judge the man on what he actually did and not what he would've done if he was alive these days.

Re: STD
Predictably, the usual SJW shitsites are now trying to portray William Shatner as a Nazi.
