It's not 'bad' but it's severely lacking. Like I said, a third of it is a good movie. The opening with Jabba the Hut and everything with Luke, Vader and Palpatine was gold. That should have been the whole movie.

I loved the dog fights in that movie. The ground battle with ewoks might be the worst thing about that film that ruins it.

Seriously though once Han gets rescued the movie takes a massive dive in quality. The movie basically slows down and then stops during the Care Bears Space Adventures parts.

I rewatched all three movies a couple years back. I had a great time watching the theatrical cuts of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. The first third of The Return of the Jedi is still great, I was enthralled during that build up to Han's rescue even though I'd already seen that movie as a child many times.

But then I instantly start to fall asleep once the Care Bears show up and ruin the movie. Also, ANOTHER FUCKING DEATH STAR. Fuck me 2/3ds of that movie is Care Bears fucking around making the movie a massive boring joke while Lucas rips off a better Star Wars movie. This movie did what Disney's doing now only Lucas did it 30 years ago and yet no one seems to call him out on his bullshit.

And while I'm at it I'm not sure why IG-12 had to self-destruct. There was like, 20 Stormtroopers? Between IG-12, huge bitch, old man from Predator, and the Ugly Mandalorian (holy shit he's ugly under that helmet no wonder he never takes it off), they could've easily wiped the floor with them. I dunno, that was a forced sacrifice, it didn't make sense.
