Re: TFS got copyright struck again
That's nothing new to me. Internet nobody fans have this thing where they believe that their idols always have the high ground in these kinds of conflicts. The death of DBZA wouldn't even put a dent in Toei's income.
Many TFS fans will probably say that they will never support Toei ever again, but you just know they will be back in a short while to have deep lore discussions about the latest DBS episode.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: TFS got copyright struck again
$30K? Your numbers are way off, an anime studio wants a good $200,000 for a 22 minute episode (and this was when I was talking to some studios in 2001), the studio YouTube animators use for tweening (Harry Partridge and Egoraptor use them), YOTTA now wants $15K A MINUTE to animate videos. And even the animation that's shown on LORE is $500-$600 a minute and that barely animation at all.drisko wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2017 10:46 amThey probably want it to be at the same level as those anime. And while they were made cheaply, they're gonna cost more than $10k a month. To get a full team on a 22 minute episode is something like $30k at least, and that's just for the animation, not counting the storyboards, the character and setting designs, the sound guy, etc.
They could go to kickstarter, but even then they'd be looking at well over a million dollars for just a basic six part series.
TL:DR 2D Animation is incredibly expensive and laborious.
Re: TFS got copyright struck again
Definitely. Anime is usually a gigantic loss to create and air on TV in Japan. They make up for it with aggressive merch sales and stupidly expensive bluray releases. But even then, lots of studios are struggling keeping afloat when an expected major series bombs.

What a job choice. All the negatives of being self-employed but also with a "boss" that's not even your employer being able to fuck you over and the place you host your shit being able to just kick you out.

Re: TFS got copyright struck again
But they already did use their "talent" to do voice acting in video games and animes, didn't stop them from being leechs with DBZA

Their names aren't favorites of the rights holders. They pretty much guaranteed they can't be used on official projects and only have throwaway voice roles.
Re: TFS got copyright struck again
I dunno how many wake up calls these guys need already.
I know their patreon is doing well and all, and if they drop the only thing people care about their production, that is, dragon ball, it is going to go away. But sooner or later Toei/Namco Bandai is going to get fed up with this shit and if they decide to go to court, I dunno if the "it´s just a parody" is going to stick. And I get the feeling that TFS also thinks like that.
These guys are making a living using other´s intellectual property. You can argue that Patreon are donations, but a good lawyer can make the case that team four stars is selling a product with the Dragon Ball name on it. Shit can get nasty if toei puts their weight on it.
And as much as the DBZA fans complain about Toei, for a japanse company, they´ve been very tolerant of these guys, this is the kind of shit they usually don´t to put up with.
Honestly, if I were the team four stars guys, I would finish up the Cell saga and call the lights, nobody likes the Majin Buu saga anyway, and to be honest, from what I´ve seen from their latest episodes, it is less about comedy and more about writting up their own Dragon Ball Z fanfic, and fanfics suck no matter the shape or form.
And I know these guys are scared, 10 years putting work on this is a lot, and there is the problem of what to do next. Voice act? maybe, these guys are not bad, but I don´t know if a guy making the vegeta voice for 10 years can hold it in a professional competitive field, with actors with vast amounts of different experiences and roles.

Ten years and they are at Cell? What the fuck? Is having a slower pacing than the glacial animu part of the parody?
