This might fit more in cartoons but since the source material is anime I figured I’d drop it here. I was watching the new Netflix Voltron season, a series I kinda like despite some qualms, and in it they show the original series as an in universe cartoon.

Well they’re talking about it and they mention Allura in a negative way, like the characters are mad that they white washed Black Zelda who was a black wash of a very white looking character created by the Japanese. I know libshits are hypocrites but my god that was blatantly asinine.

Shouldn't they be more offended that they turned a space elf into a filthy human? Also how ass-backwards is it to make the original show an in-universe knock-off of yours?

Tobe Fair she’s an Altean in both versions, in the original she just looks like Zelda minus the elf ears and in this version she just looks like Black Zelda. I actually like her design and character alright, they tried to give her some dumb abilities like shapeshifting and super strength in the first season but quickly nixed those for good reason. I just find the remark insulting as you said.

I do remember fans making death threats to the cast and crew because they killed the gay pilot’s ex lover, granted these are the people who ship and want the series to be hawt cartoons making out. Thankfully the cast/crew and even fans called them out on their horseshit right away and didn’t pander.

Shiro getting married to some dude and kissing him, and they zoom into their faces as this happens. (I'm not sure if the other gay guy appeared earlier in the show, as there are way too many characters at the end of the series, but its not one of the main characters.)

At least it’s not Shiro/Keith like all the losers wanted. They’re fraternal and romance would have been creepy coming from them, especially considering the age difference.

Well Keith is a teenager and Shiro is in his mid 20s according to most source material. Considering he was a minor when they met it’s pretty gross. They couldn’t represent that but at least they had him marry a brown guy to even out.

Apparently Shiro was indeed supposed to have died in the season 2 finale. I always thought the way 3 picked up his story felt really weird.
