Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
You wouldn't believe the weird shit swtards come up to validate their hobby. I mean, there's like this weird "ring theory" of how Star Wars made it big because Georgie exploited ancient storytelling techniques.
Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

I actually read those... they are disgustingly generic points that you cold ascribe to anything if you reach far enough. And they already reached FAR.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 6:25 pmYou wouldn't believe the weird shit swtards come up to validate their hobby. And if there really was this one magical ancient storytelling technique that guarantees Star-Wars-tier success, every movie since forever would've done the exact same thing. It's not like Georgie found these mystical secrets edged into stone tablets he found in a ruin or something.CIANigger wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 6:32 pmI actually read those... they are disgustingly generic points that you cold ascribe to anything if you reach far enough. RLM went into full detail about the BS factor of the "Ring Theory" in their Mr. Plinket Force Awakens review. Good stuff.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2017 9:00 pmAnd if there really was this one magical ancient storytelling technique that guarantees Star-Wars-tier success, every movie since forever would've done the exact same thing. Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
I thought it was a well established fact all Lucas really did was make a thinly-diguised Flash Gordon ripoff because he never wanted to make Star Wars to begin with: he wanted to make a Flash Gordon film but he couldn't get the rights.
I mean, that's it. All the other stuff in or around it is just stupid. As much as I like Star Stars myself, it's really just a Flash Gordon-type thing done with really big special effects and some -accidental- good acting.

I assume he had some kind of stock company because of all the britbongs who worked on the original trilogy? Especially new hope? I don't follow this shit.

Yeah, in fact, Mike "Writer, Producer, Director of Space Cop" Stoklasa spent half the (supposedly) TFA review... reviewing the prequels. Because he can't bring himself to criticize TFA. Because those Disney dollars are still heavy on his pockets.

Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
Yeah that TFA review was bullshit. The first half was him trashing the prequels again, and the second half was him mostly talking about fan reception to TFA instead of the movie itself. You could condense the actual review to 10 minutes.Le Redditeur wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2017 3:33 amYeah, in fact, Mike "Writer, Producer, Director of Space Cop" Stoklasa spent half the (supposedly) TFA review... reviewing the prequels. Mr. Plinkett is clearly dead. Stoklasa doesn't want to make those type of video essays anymore. Which is fine, cause his other shows are still good, but he's moved away from Mr. Plinkett, and considering what bullshit TFA review was, we're all better off.

Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
I think a good Plinkett review needs to be done many years later so that you can really digest the movie's cultural impact or lack thereof.
Like RLM was way too easy on JJ Trek 1. They kind of fell for the JJ's typical hype of "This movie is just the foundation. Great new stories are coming later, we promise."
Because JJ Trek 2 was derivative shit, and it really illuminates the flaws in part 1.
Same with TFA. It was extremely derivative with a Mary Sue main character with a useless token black sidekick. But we're promised that the deficiencies of the movie are all part of the plan, to be explained later.
