I've been on here ten years, as of the Spring. And I was a genuine kid when I started on 2.0.

I'm not doing it on like the typical 23-24 year old grad student way. On the older end.

Its not like a Master's in Theater or Gender Studies or some shit. I'm doing a Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing, which would have me editing research papers, writing instruction manuals, parsing new gov't regulations. Shit's mind numbingly dull, so naturally the paycheck is more desirable.

Make sure you network so you have a job when you get out.

I'm in an internship right now and my internship supervisor is quite happy with me, so so far so good.

Definitely the goal is to get a job, the demoralization that comes with the service industry is worse than its ever been. Ready to leave that behind me.

Network with everyone you can, not just your supervisor. Collect references and sources too. Get a line on what places are expanding and hiring.

If you put all your hopes in one guy then that guy might flake out and leave you screwed.

I definitely want to start applying to openings in different states once this is close to wrapped up. Maybe find like a conference or something.

I have an asshole Greek in my town named Tony. I cant remember his actual Greek name but it was complicated enough for me to forget.

Probably "Tonipolos".

That'd be par for the course for a last name. Their first names tend to be shit they can tell and spell out for you five times and you still don't get it.
The usual thick accent doesn't help.

We have a Greek at work. He's either "the Greek" or "Tzaziki" to most. I like to rotate my slurs so I call him by any Greek food item I can come up with on the spot.

It's not. English is just so soft and imprecise that everything sounds harsh to you.
Perhaps with the exception of French, which makes up almost half of English anyway.

I was going to say, French influenced English heavily. A large portion of English words are just loan words from the French.
