While I don't necessarily agree in every respect with the quote that "somebody rejecting you is doing you a favor. They're saving you time." There is an aspect of that which is extremely true. It's good if you feel better talking about it. Just remember that when you hold something bitter inside you for a long time, it's going to regularly recur even after you think you're over it. So just don't be surprised if you occasionally have those feelings come back. You're going to have to get used to being your own cheering squad and taking down self-sabotaging thoughts when they reappear. Now, obviously you weren't being beaten or sexually abused by Fred (one hopes,) so it's not that fuckin' serious. But to use those as examples, when somebody has been abused and feels a certain type of way about it, they might have to keep addressing and then letting go of those feelings for a very long time before the negative thoughts fully begin to fade.

All that is a super gay way of saying that you gotta be a man. Deal with your problems and then keep dealing with your problems every day. We all gotta carry that weight, but we are all strong enough to do it.

And note that I'm not talking about constantly dredging up your feelings either, like therapists will do. Just saying that WHEN those feelings come up, you will have to address them in some kind of way that lets you move on and not become stuck back in those negative emotions.
