Re: Spirits
As the resident quarter-spaghettinigger and, more importantly, full-alcoholic, I do drink wine sometimes. Naturally, I have also tried sake at some point.
A bottle of either will do the job. But good luck drinking a bottle of sake. It fucking sucks. Naturally, those island riceniggers infamous for not being able to handle booze din't need much of it and so it may be passable to those 50kg, 1.5m manlets.
Then again, there's a reason Japan lost their minds once Santory brought back Whisky from Scotland and sake has faced a steady decline in popularity ever since.
A good wine however can range from just good to absolutely amazing and you won't mind really enjoying a single glass or drinking two entire bottles. Wine has range and at a cool 13% for most dry reds it'll be effective for sure.
Being a wino is the OG class of alcoholic after all!

Re: Spirits
It might not be fair, but around here drinking wine is usually associated with being fey unless you're a woman or a foreigner.

Aye, sake is fucking garbage. I remember, as a young weebshitter, I thought to myself that sake must be a glorious, delicious drink. For all that fuss samurai movies make of it. Imagine my surprise when I uncorked a bottle and drank a swallow of the most odious concoction I had ever tasted. A drink to make the cheapest and nastiest malt liquor look like the finest champagne.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 11:23 pmAs the resident quarter-spaghettinigger and, more importantly, full-alcoholic, I do drink wine sometimes. It's not surprising Japs who drink liquor primarily are crazy over whiskey. Sake is gross. I've heard Baijiu is garbage too, but never tried it. Baijiu is not easy to get here. I have never seen it for sale. I know Baijiu is still drunk in China but Tsingtao is all I find here. For what it's worth, Tsingtao tastes a lot like Heineken to me and both are just ok. Which... Saying that a german beer is equal to a Chinese one is as strong an indictment against Heineken as I can come up with.

Re: Spirits
Heineken is Dutch. The Heineken in the USA is most likely also brewed in the USA, so I don't know if it's exactly the same. US Budweiser is pretty close to the Czech Budweiser but not quite the same.
Tsingtao was founded by Germans. For a beer that is made with the addition of rice it's surprisingly good. I doubt you could make better beer in that region.
Having once been given a glass of Californian rose, a Zinfadel, I can understand your reservations. Shit tasted like watermelon juice.
Meanwhile the Italians call the grape Primitivo and make ripasso with it, which is similar to Amarone and results in a high ABV, rich wine that's would make Dyonisos Bacchus proud.

Well, I am a foreigner to you. Beer is simply not an option in southern Europe. France, Spain, Italy and Greece all can't make beer. But they all make great wine.

Well at least that nip beer I had was a lot better than their "rice wine" offering. Though I expected nothing less from those Krautaboos.

Re: Spirits
Japanese beer is solid. It has a very strong corn flavor, which I attribute to the brewing process. But it's not bad. If you're hot and you crack open an ice cold Sapporo, you will be refreshed. It's inoffensive.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 8:41 amWell at least that nip beer I had was a lot better than their "rice wine" offering. Heineken in the USA is apparently either imported from Holland or perhaps made in Canada. I saw some people speculating about it but who knows.Heineken is Dutch. Tsingtao and Heineken both taste... Just sort of clean, clear and simple. Like the Sapporo except with no corny flavor to it. I hardly have a refined palate, but as far as pilsners go, you can definitely do worse. Since a pilsner usually isn't the kind of beer that's made in small batches or at a higher price point/level of quality, it's hard to complain too much. The macro-adjunct lagers and pilsners we have here in the USA are pretty shit.
Corona is another one that's ok. I don't remember enjoying it even as much as Tsingtao or Heineken though. I do want to try Asahi at some point, but it's usually not available in single unit purchases here.

Yeah, they are on the sweet side of Pilseners. Not as hops focused as Pilsener Urquell, the OG Pilsener that the brewing style is named after, or even Norddeutsches Pilsener like Dithmarscher Pilsener or Flensburger Pils, which have their own brewing style. I bet Flens would be called an IPA in burgerland because those hipster faggots know nothing about anything.
Tsingtao is absolutely perfect for your stay at a Chinese buffet restaurant. Crisp, refreshing, washes everything down. Perfect for dinner. Not anything you'd buy a crate of.
Beer like that is made all over the world. Italy has one like that, Thailand has Tiger and so on. That light lager style that is inoffensive.
It's just the actual craft stuff only comes from Europe. Other places don't have the climate or know-how. Same with wine, same with bread and sausages and cheese.
Same reason India will never build a car worth a damn. You'd think they have anything they need for it, including the market. They are just too subhuman. They don't have the mindset to create greatness.
Neither do burgers but for different reasons. Your "good enough" attitude is what hindered you from surpassing Europe, despite having all the resources so succeed. Too many niggers, too many undesirable Scotts and Irish.
Don't feel bad. Europe is circling down the drain as we speak as well. When I'm old and even more bitter we will be Asian-tier and nothing of quality will be manufactured anymore anywhere.
