I think the Japanese version showcases it better. No woman has ever gotten to Stage 3 (and if they did I doubt they'd be able to do the Body Prop). The best a woman has ever done was Stage 2, where this one woman was too short to do the Spider Walk properly so she failed.

They have a women-only spin-off called Kunoichi (called Women of Ninja Warrior in the US and UK). It is the easiest shit ever from the looks of things. It is basically just 'Jump over this. Step over that' I think the hardest obstacle is a ramp at a slight incline that you have to run across quickly or else fall in the water.

Incredibly most of the contestants still manage to fail.

I just google it lol. A but more silly looking, but... you know... Japanese.

Edit: I saw a special of American Ninja Warrior where they, uh, for a lack of a better word "Americanized" all the stages and made them huge af. That was actually impressive. Jumping 4.5m/15 feet horizontally etc.

I used to watch Sasuke/Kunoichi when they were on G4. I remember one bitch on Kunoichi "won" the top course maybe three times. The first guy to win Sasuke could never do it again because his eyes were borked, then some other dude won, a fan favorite. I can't remember much else.

Yes and no. It's like Takeshi's Castle in the sense that Takeshi's Castle is Japanese, has obstacles and almost no one ever wins, but other than that they're pretty different.

I suppose that's as good a comparison as any. It did make me think of Gladiators when I first saw it. Of course, as I got into it the show more-or-less killed my taste for Gladiators.
