There are three races in recounts (apparently now only two), two in Commiefornia - one of which is now victory, one in Iowa. This'll put the margin at 220-215, likely, for the GOP. A change of exactly nothing from the last Congress. Keep in mind the GOP, in the last Congress, they had to expell a conman, pathological liar, the first time in almost a half century *anyone's* been expelled from Congress, and if you want to find the last time a Republican got kicked out, you have to go back even farther.

There was also the ouster of Kevin McCarthy, throwing the house into chaos for a solid month, that hasn't happened *ever.* It bears repeating that the Dems well and truly shit the bed in every respect this cycle. The house was theirs for the taking.

But yeah, Gerrymandering is fucked up, the damage is felt most directly with the House races. The Governor and legislatures can draw districts to have more districts that vote in line with their party, giving them more house seats. It's completely partisan, and *actual* election rigging. You can see the impact of both parties doing it all over the country.

The pundit class overestimates how much attention people pay to nuts and bolts issues.

Trumps campaign strategy this go round was “it’s the economy, stupid!” 2.0. I know everybody’s jizzing their pants here, so it’s not really something that needs repeating, but the recipe behind Trumps victory is really that simple.

Speaking of James Carville. Prior to the election, he was saying Kamala would win, and it’s honestly really obvious he was lying to stay out of trouble. He knew Trump had this because his campaign was copying the strategy that *Carville himself* originated.

Trump won because of the poor economy and he also won because of the protest vote against a hilariously unpopular Biden Administration.

Liberal voters were disenfranchised and didn't turn out or vote Democrat as much as was expected. Kamala ran a piss-poor campaign and Dems tried to court conservatives instead of their own base. I think the major takeaway from the election is you can't neglect your base. You have to keep them happy and behind you or you'll lose even the people you thought would ride and die with your campaign forever.
