So, I’m working in retail right now to pay for graduate school, and the area I work in has a curfew; basically meant to separate the kids from the tweakers, of which there are more than enough in this part of Omaha, minors have to dip after a certain time.

Well we had minors of a certain ethnicity come in, they were told by a manager who I’m friends with about the curfew, politely; mind you. They refused, which makes what they were doing technically trespassing; so our security guy tried to escort them out; they got worse, and he had to call for backup.

They started talking about fighting the cops. The encounter went into the parking lot where that plan was put into practice and it didn’t go great for them.

Presumably they’re in a lot of trouble, bc mom came in to try and ask that same manager what went down, and mom was recording them.

Apparently the kids are claiming the security guard told them they don’t serve “their kind” here. Yes, that sounds like a DHI post, but it’s also not what happened.

I realize how awkward a bind this puts me in. I recognize policing has a lot of nuance. Sometimes they abuse their power, sometimes they don’t. They self regulate, which is a meme; but I digress. They didn’t in this case, very de escalation oriented.

Putting the youth on a curfew due to tweakers is wild. Over here they would put military police on the streets and arrest the tweakers instead.

Hamburg main train station was awful in the late 90s. Then you'd see cops with berets there for a few years. Now you see neither cops nor fiends there.
Make the place an instant trip to prison for the criminals and they will very quickly vanish.

Our security does look very bored most days, that's arguably a better use of their time.

I don't think this will hold up in court considering the no doubt well-known curfew practice of the establishment.
