The coronavirus will not take out Trump because no sane person blames him for it. There was some misguided perception early on that he wasn't taking it seriously, but I think he's countered that well. I also think he's going to be very careful about how he addresses it in the future.

It's going to take a major disaster and some major mishandling of the situtation for the country to choose a dementia case over a man who presided over a very prosperous economy over the last couple years.

All the normies need to know is that the virus comes from China (which they do) and that Trump has had a trade war when them (which they do). They don't need to know the details like the trade deficit, how the virus became a thing in Wuhan, China suppressing the info when it started and all that.

I doubt the virus will even be much of a factor come November. If it is then consider who it's most likely to affect. Urbanites, who live in cities. Who is most likely to blame Trump for it? Urbanites, who live in cities. Who is most likely to risk corona virus to get out and vote for a demented old white man to replace Trump? Certainly not urbanites, who live in cities.

The whole 'oh, if the economy tanks, Trump is history' theory is rather simplistic and, I think, inapplicable in this case. If the economy is tanking it's because of China. If anything, Trump's trade war with China reducing dependency on the Chinese means America will be less affected. Trump's closing the borders and preventing people from afflicted countries getting in is probably why the US has only seen 1.5k cases in a country of 350 million people
