Still made a shitload of cash, so why try harder, right?

This applies to every fucking Marvel movie ever. It's production line film making but it's not cynically terrible like Selzterberg or Michael Bay's output so no one hates it. More like how Plinkett described Titanic, it's not terrible but it's just average and does just enough to satisfy normies.

Thing with Titanic though is, much like Avatar, the plot and the characters were shit/average at best, but the film was very technically proficient. Cameron really knows how to do special effects and stuff like that, and I think that he actually built a scale replica of the Titanic for the movie. With the Marvel movies, they are average in every conceivable way. There's nothing like that level of craftsmanship in any of the Marvel movies

I've just said that one movie wasn't as good as people say so - but remind me of this when I finally finish my Boogie Encyclopedia Dramatica page (and they'll delete it afterwards because of some bullshit guideline I've missed).

The only spin-off movie I'd like to see is an Obi-Wan one.

I keep hearing about this Obi-Wan spin-off and it pisses me off every time.
Because that's what the prequels were supposed to be. And then George fucked it all up. Obi-Wan should have been the protagonist, yet he never really did anything important in the overall story. He got in some lightsaber fights and rode on a lizard.

Any more star wars movies after this point will just be poison to the franchise as a whole. We haven't had a "good" movie since Return of the Jedi, and we haven't had a 100%, legitimately good film since Empire. 2 movies out of everything in the franchise are good.

So at this point, it's a series like Sanic that's more tainted by shit than anything. And at least Sanic had 3-4 great games before it all went so wrong. Star Wars has 2 and a half movies. The star wars video games have a better track record on quality than the movies do.
