What's up with Grace's accent? Listen at 3:42. So weird.

Anyway, if you like those discount Resident Evil movies you'll probably like this. The Chi-knees joke was cut out.

Was Zorin a villain or hero? (He wanted to nuke the San Andreas fault to flood Silicon Valley and, I guess, sink San Francisco.) Sounds like he's the savior we needed but the Boris Johnson of the '80s stopped him. Thanks Anglos.

Spending the winter holiday at home going through my movie archive in these pandemic ridden times. Maybe tomorrow shall I put on my plague doctor mask once again and go hunt for some mandatory corporate shit for Christmas presents. But not yet today.

The Spring (2000)

Some cheap-ass TV movie from the late 90's, starring the has-been Kyle MacLachlan as a writer on vacation with his son and they arrive in this little village where everyone seems suspicious of them and where there is this some great mysssstery going on. At first I thought this was going to be total crap, but it was surprisingly entertaining and watchable. MacLachlan delivers his usual smiley boy role, the acting of everyone else was like watching at the barn wall. It felt mostly like an overly long Twilight Zone episode. Not complete turd, but definitely not anything I want to watch ever again. 4/10

The Gift (2000)

Where so many of these one-word title movies from the 2000 have come from? I don't know if this is the lowest point of Sam Raimi's career, but it's absolutely sure that nothing of the ingenuity of Evil Dead can be found here. The only redeeming feature of this piece of shit is Katie Holmes in fuckable age showing her boobs. Nothing else worth saying about this, I was thinking of giving this as a Christmas present to an annoying relative of mine, "Here, man. It's The Gift!" 2/10

Lords of Chaos (2018)

I finally watched the infamous Lords of Chaos, a horror/semi-documentary about the Norwegian black metal scene in the early 90's, the church arsons and the murder of Euronymous. There was nothing new to me, I've known this story since the 90's, but it was interesting to see it from a different perspective. The gore scenes were top-notch, especially the Dead's suicide scene was quite hard to watch. It's funny how they portrayed Varg as a total clown here. Varg has made several youtube videos about hating this film and saying how unfaithful it was to the real events. I don't really care, who knows what really happened, all this happened 30 years ago, many of the people who experienced the events are already dead and Varg's opinion is of course extremely biased as he was convicted of murder. All in all, very entertaining and interesting movie and there certainly is not an oversupply of movies about black metal. 8/10

Zulu (1964)

Oyoyy! Why haven't I watched this earlier? A tale about civilized and brave men of Europe conquering new Lebensraum for their people and defending the land they rightly claimed against the wild savages. It's like a 60's version of the outpost siege of Starship Troopers. Great Stanley Baker exudes charisma as a huwhite strong leader and 30 year old Michael Caine is this initially uppity and insecure, but ultimately brave officer who delegates command to another officer of equivalent rank but does not give up the battle at any stage in the end. For a 60's movie, this was surprisingly brutal, though there isn't anything like wounded soldiers lying on the battlefield screaming with their guts out, everyone who gets shot/speared/bayoneted just drop dead instantly on the ground. John Barry's score is brilliant, albeit a little repetitive. However, there is one drawback. In the end they added a scene where the Zulus, who lost in battle, return to the British and sing some song to honor them. This never happened in the Battle of Rorke's Drift and seems completely unbelievable anyway, as those savages would comprehend any kind of concept of honor.

Oh yeah, there's this Swedish missionary guy with his daughter trying to bring peace between the parties, even at the risk of his and his daughter's lives. Even in the sixties they knew the Swedish are cucks. Back then they cucked in the name of Christianity, today in the name of Marxism. 9/10

I watched Vincent Price's The Bat. Pretty fun movie. It also puts paid to the notion that good female characters didn't exist in old movies. The two main characters are level-headed older women. They're not bombshells or ugly dangerhairs. The Bat is kind of a mix of a horror film and a whodunit mystery. It's best to go into the movie completely blind. I was impressed with all of the characters in The Bat, really. They all act believably and none are stereotypes. Characters pick up on clues about as fast as the viewer does, and there are several red herrings. Again, quite refreshing. The Bat is reasonably short. It lacks the depth of The Last Man on Earth, but it's still a top-quality Price movie.

The Monster that Challenged the World is a pretty good 50's monster movie. It's surprisingly gruesome for the era, not bloody but it makes a point to show what the monsters (giant mutant snails this time) do to their victims.

I've watched Stalker a week ago. It's alright, I guess. If you think Kubrick went through great lengths to say little, this movie will end you.
But it's in great quality on YT. In Russian but with good subtitles. So that's something.

"It's still more than Marvel earned this year in the box office!"

Good, but usually DC capeshit is worthless anyway. The real challenge is to have Disney capeshit to fail among its seemingly infinite audience of soy-filled bugmen.
