I've watched A Boy and his Dog yesterday by the way. It's pretty good. Funny, that I recommended Screamers, which is the name of some zombie-like characters in the movie, which I knew nothing about at that time.
Pretty bleak movie. Kinda refreshing.

It's obviously not 1:1 with the game, but if it gives off a creepy vibe onscreen, that would be enough for me.

I'm not paying for black Jill Valentine. Hollywood totally lost me at the inclusion rider shit, aka affirmative action for colored actors. That's probably where this black Jill Valentine and Latino Leon Kennedy shit came from. I'd been growing tired of Pedowood for a long time anyway, but this woke casting shit did me in. Along with all the kid fucking too of course.

I loved a Boy and His Dog. So true to reality: as soon as the apocalypse comes - BANG - women once again become a commodity to pump and dump. And the one woman he SIMPed for was a typical harpy whore who we all felt gratified after knowing she was eaten by the protagonist and his dog.

If you have the DVD watch the commentary, that movie was made with five dollars and a dream.

Same. I know there was this movie one of you recommended and it was about some director who based the plot off his wife and her mental illness. I think it's some David Lynch movie? Anywho, it was on YouTube but by the time I got down to watching it, the damned movie was copyright striked.

A Boy and His Dog blew my mind, honestly. The effects have held up so well. The set work is great, the costumes are really convincing and, as I said before, the actor for Blood is phenomenal. It's one of those movies where all the characters feel like real, flawed people.

The name "screamers" reminds me of the movie Scanners, which is another favorite film of mine. I've recommended it many times here, and it's about time for me to rewatch it. It's probably my favorite Cronenberg movie. Cronenberg needs to come back and make more weird shit. Eastern Promises was fine, I GUESS, but it didn't feel like one of his movies. A History of Violence is overrated and rather humdrum, with a stupid climax that emulates Unforgiven but falls short. The Fly never grabbed me the way it does so many Cronenberg fans. I thought it was fine, but The Brood covered a similar concept with more interesting subject matter (namely, women are disgusting and horrifying.) Naked Lunch is a fun movie, but what was it even about? I don't remember. Drug use, I think.

I just checked IMDb and it seems Cronenberg has been producing boring, prosaic bullshit ever since Eastern Promises. Give me more like fucking Videodrome and Scanners! I know Videodrome was a product of the VHS era of moviemaking, but you can't tell me there are no avenues for body horror in our current world of direct streaming.

Cronenberg is another one of those old fuck directors who's just kind of finished I think. Blew his creative load a long time ago, and there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone has their time in the sun.

I would love some more body horror though, same as you. I can't think of any current year directors who seem to be into it though.
