This is why I can't stand shared universes/leagues.

It makes sense if there's a handful of people (let's say five maximum), who dress up in costumes to fight/commit crime. It's an isolated thing specific to these people. They're meant to be a little weird. Like, I can take Reeve seriously, because it's just him. He's an alien. He has a weird interpretation of heroism. That's fine. I can take Keaton seriously, because it's just him. He's a mentally ill millionaire. And the people around him - the Joker, Catwoman, the Penguin - are fucked up also.

But having Superman and Batman together is when it becomes nonsense. Not to mention the Avengers/Justice League, all that crap.

Which is why the Arrowverse was especially cringe in its denial. Pretty much no one referred to anyone by their capeshit name, and at least half the cast never wore anything that was even an approximation of their actual costume.

Maybe the reason every Troontastic 4 adaptation failed is because, in a universe in which everything and everyone is goofy and gay, they are the goofiest and the gayest.
