They're fucking wrong. This shit is exactly like with the fucking Westerns. Sure, the genre didn't die completely. Westerns do occasionally get made. The public is gradually getting over its antipathy for the genre and money men are maybe slightly more willing to fund that genre of picture. But damn, dude. Compared to the heyday? That shit is deader than disco.

Mahvul is killing off capeshit a hell of a lot faster than Westerns. Which is impressive. They had to really dedicate themselves to overspending and over-producing really, really shitty superhero movies. I admire their perseverance. If they'd left the genre alone for a year or two, maybe marketers could have kept interest limping along a few more decades. The way things are going now, I wouldn't be surprised if capeshit as a movie genre is dead/abandoned by big studios inside 10-15 years.

The big problem Hollywood is having now is that every capeshit idea with any shred of popular appeal has been done to death, and then done again two more times for good measure. The only two choices they have left are a) make more shitty movies about z-list heroes nobody cares for (what they are doing) or b) make a single, extremely high-quality film. They can't do the latter because Mahvul and DeeCee scared off the talented actors and directors over a decade ago. By being shitheads. Edward Norton wanted to be involved in Hulk. Mickey Rourke wanted to do shit with Iron Man 2. And so, SO many directors have walked away from Mahvul because of their straightjacket-tight control over every aspect of production.

Capeshit is already a fucking boring concept! Because the heroes can never die and the villains can never win or stay dead. So you wind up with this bizarre stalemate situation no matter what story you cook up. But then Mahvul stacks a shit cherry on top by telling you exactly how you're gonna film everything for them and how your characters are gonna act in the movie. Because of "branding." Get absolutely fucked. No wonder a good capeshit movie can't be made. Last good one was Dark Meme Rises and you can quote me on that. Not a single decent capeshit came out after that.

Speaking of capeshit stories being shit because villains can't die, that was one downright refreshing aspect of the pulpy cult hit, Punisher 2004 with Thomas Jane (and the amazing 2005 MAX-styled tie-in video game). Punisher can actually kill people! What a concept! A villain can die, stay dead and never come back. Shame Mahvul had to ruin the notion by constantly rebooting Punisher so they can bring the villains back again.

When Disney had those announcements of "Phase 3, 4, 5, 6" movies ten years ahead of schedule, it was pretty clear capeshit was doomed to fail in a not distant future. There's no way in hell you can keep people invested in some overarching narrative while completely saturating the public for years straight. Unfortunately normalfags had eaten that Thanos nonsense like it was their favorite flavor of Soylent ice cream, that gave Mahvel capeshit a bit more legs (while the DCU crap failed immediately, it was satisfying to watch).

Hopefully, Mahvel will note be able to hit another spot overarching narrative that normalfags will swallow whole again. The odds are pretty good since they only have retarded minorities writing and directing for them now, and the source material doesn't have anything good they can poach anyway. Unless that Secret Wars nonsense ends up being a huge hit.

The issue is Kang is a weird character. This is a guy who can see in time and has a million different versions - all with their own personalities. It’s not really clear what he wants, and his motivations haven’t been set up that well.

You’d need a villain who normies get a little better - which is why redditors keep throwing around Doctor Doom.

That is of course contingent on MCU Fantastic Four not being a dud - which is a big ask.
