I think it was more about war flashbacks in the game, or at least what happened to his comrades.
Yeah and being tested to see how low he would get,
-On the internet, everyone end up being Spoony or Tim Buckley
-All fanbases are shit
-Most people had, have and will have shit tastes

Not entirely sure. I mean, the shorts ends with everyone but one getting offed for good, with the survivor getting the "I have no mouth" treatment as punishment. That doesn't strike me as being easy to reset.
Well the character is modified by AM to get hurt if he eats (I only remember partly what AM did to him)
and when you look at some fruits in a tree he mention the events of the short story
That still has nothing to do with the short story. In it they all die besides one who is turned into a blob, literally having no mouth to scream with. They are also not killed by AM but rather kill themselves. AM wanted to keep them around as playthings and was mighty pissed about the others dying.
They were all sent on a hellish trip for some promised canned food. Neither had eaten in years but were somehow kept alive by AM but feeling like they are starving all that time.

It's been a while since I've heard the story but it and the game have almost nothing in common but the initial premise. What guest said about Benny and the nigress is correct. There's some kind of love triangle going on. The other dude (not the Nazi) loves her and she does like him but can't do without getting slammed with Benny's monster dick.

The premise would make for quality hentai material.

I've once seen some super fucked up gore hentai on fucking television. Shit had a runtime of over three hours and ran in the middle of the night. I could totally see that work.

When did he admit it was a blatant ripoff?
It was in an interview for Starlog magazine. The interviewer asked him where he got the ideas and Cameron said he got it from a few Outer Limits episodes. The printed interview redacted that portion, due to pressure from Hemdale Films, but the editors of Starlog, who were friends with Ellison (who had himself written for the magazine) let him see a copy of the unredacted interview, and that was the smoking gun he used to press forward with the suit. It's all talked about in this video:

And yeah, of course Cameron's gonna say it was a nuisance suit. Even if he wasn't a tremendous prick, he's hardly gonna go 'Oh yeah, Harlan Ellison was right to sue us. I totally ripped off his Outer Limits episodes and I was a bad, bad boy'
The "ripoff" comment has no context and sounds like he said it jokingly, not actually bragging about plagiarism. It's like when Max Landis laughs when people say Chronicle is an Akira ripoff, he isn't admitting it was plagiarism. And the clips of those episodes are only vaguely like Terminator at best, it clearly was just inspiration and Ellison was being a litigious asswipe about it for a quick buck.

I guess who ever invented the concept of time travel in fiction should sue Harlen Ellison:

I guess the descendants of Samuel Madden should sue everyone who have ever written anything about time travel.

It's still not something you want brought up in court, hence settlement. Then there's the interview transcript, which would probably include audio tape as well. Both of these things make Cameron look guilty

Having seen the episode in question, I can tell you it gets a lot more Terminator-esque than that. It's not full blown Terminator but in my opinion his suit had merit.

Now, when he sued the producers of In Time for ripping off one of his stories, actually saw the movie, realised it was nothing like his work and then withdrew the suit, that was him being a litigious dickhole

If the original Doom got away with it's soundtrack having such blatant rip offs of metal songs then the lawsuit would have no merit what so ever. The bolded part is enough to throw the suit out, I think the whole issue withe the magazine was that they knew what Ellison was like and wanted to avoid it.

Firstly Doom was after Terminator, secondly there's no one size fits all situation when it comes to dealing with copyright law infringement and thirdly, if these rip-offs are as blatant as you claim, had someone actually brought suit against id Software they might very well have won the case.

Why would they tell him about the original transcripts, give him the transcripts, not only giving Ellison his smoking gun but ensuring they'd be called upon to testify if the case ever went to trial, if they wanted to avoid a situation?

Something being similar to another thing isn't enough to win a lawsuit. That's what razorfag doesn't understand when he goes on about "muh Elric" and how he hates The Witcher.

Because the songs were written by a lawyer who knew exactly how much he could get away with.

Some are more contentious, but the Pantera ripoffs in particular are extremely blatant. Especially Mouth of War and This Love.

I know their is no one size fits all approach, but I read a synopsis of both stories and it is merely similar. Your average Kung Fu movie is more of a generic rip off than Terminator is, and if what I showed above is allowed then the legal system would be broken is Ellison won that suit.

I meant the studio telling the magazine not to publish that part, not the mag itself.
