Lynch's emphysema was so severe that he could barely walk a few feet without running out of breath and if he caught a cold it could kill him. He was confined to his home. And he lived in Los Angeles and likely had to evacuate recently.

He wasn't going to be around for much longer anyway, the strain of that may have been more than he could take.

Sad even if he never got to make the Netflix show would be nice to have him still around making his shit music at his house.

When they bring Twin Peaks back I hope Kyle MacLachlan and Sheryl Lee tell them to fuck off.

David Lynch died at the age of 78.
Darn. He gave up on film years ago, anyway. At least he made a third season of Twin Peaks that totally rocked.

He quit smoking for years until he started again because he missed it.

Why? Lynch was one of two creators. They both directed, and both were absent at different times.

Not trying to denigrate Lynch or anything, I love his work, but Twin Peaks can and has functioned perfectly fine without him. He was only truly prevalent in the pilot, the movie and season 3.

I would have no interest in a Lynch-less "Twin Peaks". This isn't "Star Wars". The biggest fans of the series actually LIKE the creator and all of the best stuff involved him. If there were five seasons of "Twin Peaks" and Lynch completely stepped away for two of them and the show was still great, you might could argue that there's a possibility of it working without him, but that's not the case. He still directed some of the best Season 2 episodes.

I can see some slimy media giant attempting to revive it down the road, but I wouldn't have any interest and I would have contempt for anyone from the original series who involved themselves in that. Kyle MacLachlan is a Lynch dude all of the way who understands the fans (see his very active social media) and I choose to trust that Mark Frost has some integrity.

"Twin Peaks" is dead now hopefully. I actually thought it died when Angelo Badalamenti passed away a few years ago. His music is basically a character in the show, too.
