• In which form will Truck-kun manifest? This legendary Charon of the isekai genre, forever bound to ferry the isekai protags to their isekai worlds as punishment for killing Minky Momo?
• How much is the isekai fantasy setting literally just a video game?

I've never been able to get into it. In a normal story, the reader needs to identify in some way with the MC to properly enage the imagination and invest in the narrative.
With isekai, we're being asked to click with the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude in a meaningless fake world.

They're pretty much banking on the protagonist serving as a reader-insert or some shit, made all the more obvious with the power fantasy and haremshit going on in modern isekais.
