I hated the new Quentin Tarantino movie. It’s the violent fantasy of a conservative director with a Republican agenda. The 'lunatic fringe' of Manson does not represent the death of the 1960s/hippie dream. Contrary to Tarantino, progressive ideas and social reform are still active and are the way forward for this planet.

We are talking about the same Quentin Tarantino who's spent most of his life and career wanting to be a black guy?Guest wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 6:56 pmIt’s the violent fantasy of a conservative director with a Republican agenda.

Re: Movie Thread
Watched The Accused. I'm surprised this was the movie that revived Jodie Foster's career. It's not a bad movie by any means, but it's not great, either. It's like a fucking after school special. Fewer twists and turns than your standard episode of Law & Order, which this could be incidentally. I suppose Jodie Foster cries very well, but I wasn't amazed by her performance. The best scene in the movie, ironically, is the rape scene because of the way the mood just changes from 'She seems drunk and horny, maybe she wanted it' to 'Oh my god they're raping her'.
Like I said, I really can't understand why this movie got the acclaim it did. I guess 'muh rape' was to the Academy in the '80s what 'muh Holocaust' was to them in the '90s and '00s and what 'muh black oppression is to them now.

Yeah, it’s a quality rape scene. Can I say that? Oh, well, I stand by it.
I never sold my Daewoo. I kept getting low-balled and said fuck it. I’m going to keep it and watch it soar in value!

Re: Movie Thread
First day of sociology class my teacher shows us that rape scene intercut with a cheesy 90s rap video, saying rap causes rape. It causes cancer, yeh, but come on now.

Have you informed him of Lindsay Ellis' world-famous rape rap?!
