But yeah, I listened to one song from it, and now I know why I never got into K-Pop. Sounds too much like Burgershit. And those attempts at animu visuals gags are... odd.

On the plus side the characters don't look like CalArts shit, and there's apparently a surprising lack of queershit and black people.

Though some of the people loving it make some weird-ass comments, like "OMG its's soo Korean uwu!"

And all the "Koreans" were either born in the USA, or moved there very early in their life.

Plus it features K-Pop out of fear it might not be Korean enough for the Korean club. This is like if a bunch of Nihon-Burgers made a fake animu featuring catgirl maids fighting tentacle monsters.

Though I guess since it's not a real Korean production, we don't have to suffer through yet another story obsessed about the dystopian hellscape that is Korean society. Srsly that's all what the internationally successful Korean productions are about.

I actually like Korean cinema, mainly crime drama. I Saw the Devil. Chaser. The Gangster, the Cop and the Devil. Memories of Murder. Those will never get recognized for an Oscar though.

At least that's how you could interpret it if you wanted to defend Pixar's honor.

The movie's fine, really, and almost offensively inoffensive (though I'm sure the sequel will fix the lack of wokeisms).
Now mind you, the premise is kinda dumb and basically a lame copy of Symphogear, so just don't think too hard about the plot.
I mean, really? The fate of the entire world rests in three Korean chicks, and you're not even vetting those bitches to look for the mark of Korean Satan?

The quirky animu expressions were something else. Didn't help that they looked extra plastic-y like something out of Robot Chicken (except with choppier animation).

The songs didn't really win me over to the side of K-Pop. The fucking Miku gacha game movie had way better bangers.
Though I guess if you want an even gayer version of the Backstreet Boys this movie has got you covered.

Some of the VAs for the boy band didn't really sound very fitting, but I guess there's only so much you can do if you limit your cast to American Koreans who can sing and not fuck up the odd Korean word.

EDIT: At the very least I hope these songs will replace the Hobo Hotel shit in animu convention karaoke. I swear there are always at least two fuckers singing those dumb edgelord songs.
