While Villeneuve is taking a break before inevitably doing Dune: Messiah, HBO put out a Dune series based off one of the novels Franks kid wrote, and he’s like a co-writer, think he might be co-creator. I’m mildly curious but not aggressively so, the founding of the Bene Gesserit would be of interest to me, and I suppose material can be improved upon in adaptation. See: Duncan in the first movie.

I definitely don’t want this to become the next Star Wars, where it’s getting milked at every turn, but this doesn’t sound *too* bad.

Brian probably has a lot of capital and creative control via nepotism, too. Especially after the success, and likely continued success, of Part Two. I can see why they’re confident in the property, but I see it going the way of that Sicario sequel everyone forgot about. Denis Villeneuve has been integral to a lot of these projects.

Brian gets a ton of shit for writing mediocre books, but I've never found a reason to hate him. If I was Frank, I'd be happy that my books provided a comfortable lifestyle for my family decades later. And it's not like he throws his weight around. From his Twitter, it sounds as if he's entirely aware that his works are just glorified expanded universe material.
