Bryan Lee O’Malley, who created the “Scott Pilgrim” graphic novel series, will co-write and executive produce the anime version along with BenDavid Grabinski. The pair will also serve as co-showrunners.

See? That was the better ending. Scott learned not to SIMP and made it clear he wouldn't be an angry ex. Ramona can reflect that she chose the worst men for herself and she lost the good one. The comic wasn't actually finished while this film was in production so maybe the author wasn't sure who Scott would choose.
