Comicsgate: With Great Autism Comes Great Irresponsbility

This week's lesson in now to NOT deal with SJW's comes to us from Dynamite Comics, a comics publisher who dared to crowdfund a Vampirella/ Red Sonja comic with a variant cover that featured a carciature of Cecil, Comicsgate's comic relief guy. He's funny on the live streams and, as far as I can tell, doesn't talk about politics much at all. But he's associated with Comicsgate and, thus, is a Nazi.

Dynamite got POUNDED on Twitter by zombie hordes of SJWs. Some writers and artists who do work for Dynamite decided to walk away from them. That Comicsgate connection is just too poisonous.

Because of the pressure, Dynamite quickly pulled the cover and cancelled the Indiegogo campaign (despite it earning over $10K in pledges in just the first few days, much more than other variant covers of that same comic).

The result is that Dynamite pissed off Comicsgate fans.

BUT the SJWs are happy now, right? Dynamite rolled over for them. Surely, all is forgiven?

HELL. NO.

Nothing's changed, If anything, these people are just getting started in trying to destroy this company. See Renfamous's tweet thread in which he dissects how Dynamite been in bed with Ethan Van Sciver all along. Shock! Horror!

What a shitshow. The most embarrassing thing is all they had to do was ignore the few hundred idiots who were pestering them on twitter. If they had, they would be rolling in cash right now. Instead, they caved, and as a result, have effectively pissed off everyone and lost out on some pretty big profits.

If you bow to them it's basically like going to court and stating "guilty as charged, your honour". To expect no punishment is very stupid. You just admitted guilt so why do you think you just get off the hook?

You'd think that, but people just sometimes think their case is special, no matter how often similar cases have played out in the past.
Sometimes, we as a collective are apparently too dense to learn from a repeated mistake. Like the grandparent scam, various types of well-documented financial frauds and schemes that even the rich keep falling for, or European governments during the rapefugee crisis ("Refugees welcome!" -> "What's up with the increased crime rate?" -> "How come populism is on the rise?").

With companies, I almost think their HR and/or PR department is giving them bad advice on purpose.

They live in Boomer world where 5 complaints on the phone = hundreds of people secretly agree with them, they don't understand that on the internet people are not polite like they are in real life so if 100 people are bitching it is literally 100 people who care.

I feel like this could sound a lot more problematic if you replace "Comicsgate" and "hate group" with "Jews" and "deep state"

Since Dynamite cancelled their Cecil campaign last Sunday, Cecil's own independent "Cash Grab" campaign shot up from $180,000 to $207,000. He's also using a redrawn version of the cancelled cover as a "Cash Grab" variant.
