I did. Though the monster kinda turned into Magneto when he decided to ruin Frankenstein's fun by any means necessary.

I think Stan Lee and Marvel started that "the public hates the hero!" thing. It was the case for The Hulk, the X-Men, and Spider-Man. The earlier stuff DC was doing wasn't like that as far as I know.

Classic DC was more about "heroes as icons" instead of "heroes you can relate to". Unless you're a rich bloke who lost his parents, I guess.
