Speaking as a wizard of oz/land of oz fan. Its heartbreaking seeing hollywood constantly milk the 1939 film or making spinoffs to it and not doing anything with the 40 or so other canonical books in the franchise that have just as much good of a story or better as the first book(seriously, theres more material to mine from the all of lotr/middle earth, harry potter, narnia combined). Yeah we got return to oz in the 80s as well as an anime that adapted books 1-3 and 6 but theres just so much wasted potential here.

Normies don't care about the books. Most of them probably don't even know that there are books.

Re: "Cartoons"
A bit like Dune. Although, I'd argue that even the books underutilized the universe. You learn very little about the Ixians for example and it's fleshed out so little that there aren't actual alien species* that I wouldn't be surprised if many that read the books didn't even catch on to that.

Re: "Cartoons"
I think in the case of the willy wonka sequel the reason why they didn't adapt the sequel is because the author hated the original film and blocked any attempts at letting any studio adapt charlie and the great glass elevator(theres some similar shenanigans going on with the tolkien estate with the silmarillion as well) its possible they may finally adapt it soon due to a netflix deal made in 2018 that includes all of roald dhals books, but that guy was hellbent on tanking a potential franchise out of spite just because he hated the film that much(ironically he died before he was able to write a third book in the wonkaverse leading wonka to be franchised more as a candy brand rather then a film franchise)

Re: "Cartoons"
Netflix is basically the Telltale Games of non-interactive entertainment [insert joke about Telltale Games being "interactive"].
Though I don't think they will end quite the same.

Infinity train is canceled.
And this isn't cartoon related but Disney is shutting down Blue Sky Studios.

How SJW was this "Infinity Train" show? The art style looks borderline tumblr.
