We Americans are unusually obsessed with having perfectly straight, perfectly white teeth, and that's what we obsess over. Our dentists and the media have been insisting this is essential for decades, and I wouldn't be surprised if much of it was unnecessary. But not having straight teeth is considered a sign of low-class here.

The stereotype about the British may be an outdated one, but we are forever haunted by images of David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.

I'm mostly a pretty happy fucker so I don't get told to smile. The greatest thing is meeting people I know from school after all those years. All fuckers I couldn't stand back then, all fucked having kids, some dumb cunt and a house they can't afford. Smiling is never easier.
