>cops are good
>criminals are shit
I can see why Northern American audiences wouldn't like this one.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.

Re: Movie Thread
The only way to find good movies now is to look outside the West.

Leftist tries to portray facism as bad and fails. Many such cases.veris leta facies wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:22 pmThe films are based on the memoirs of a former BOPE officer (which I haven't read), and the leftist director Padilha apparently intended to criticize BOPE's actions (and police brutality in general). I've never understood the demonization of the police.
Corrupt cops, yes, but this whole idea that cops as a whole are bad is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. It's like seeing some doctors do corrupt shit and then saying we should get rid of hospitals. Like wtf

It’s because blacks commit the most crime and blacks can’t be held accountable for their actions.Rushy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 7:59 pmI've never understood the demonization of the police.

They're mean to minorities (who happen to be criminal).

Re: Movie Thread
The first movie is based on a book written by two ex-cops. Padilha tried to be somewhat faithful to the book expecting that the portrait of BOPE as brutal urban warmongers would bring awareness to the cause of Leftist NGOs like Viva Rio. Except the middle class has had enough of drug cartels and their political support network, and the highly memetic of characters like Nascimento and Fábio (some of their lines even became part of the Brazilian folklore) made sure whatever message Padilha was relying to convey was neutralized.ebin namefag wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 7:24 pmLeftist tries to portray facism as bad and fails. The second movie was an attempt to damage control by making the corrupt police militias (that were starting to replace the cartels in some favelas) as the main villains. It somewhat worked, and militias became synonym of "the Rightwing-align narco-state", to a point even to this day the Bolsonaro family is lobbed together with them in the media and Leftwing political circles.
