Movie Thread
Re: Movie Thread
I rewatched The Incredible Hulk and it was like night and day. Not a great movie but pretty good for a superhero flick. Dramatic at times, funny when necessary (but not snarky or hipster), and Ed Norton is so much better than Mark Ruffalo. Thor 3 is fucking trash in comparison, more like a goofy cartoon.
I will go so far as to say it's the best of the Marvel movies. It even has easter eggs hinting at a wider superhero-verse but doesn't feel like a fucking 2-hour ad for the next Avengers the way the later movies do.

Re: Movie Thread
I suppose that's mainly because it's an older MCU movie from before they put their crossover shenanigans into overdrive.

I never realized that a different actor played the Hulk in that first MCU Hulk flick. Shows how much I pay attention to capeshit (and films in general.)
I saw TIH when it hit video but I've still never seen Iron Man 1. I almost refuse to purely out of spite.

Next week, when I'm trying to get high on Oxycodone or something, I'm finally gonna watch Justice League.

Been watching the Blade films actually. Here's my take
Blade: Excellent film
Blade II: Even better
Blade Trinity: What the fuck went wrong?

Re: Movie Thread
Good question. I'm also wondering whether it was brought down because Snipes didn't give a shit, or if he didn't give a shit because he realized what he was getting himself into.
Blade II gets some points removed for retconning Whistler's death and more conspicuous CGI during fights scenes, but it's a fun flick.
(And at least they used the CGI for crazy wrestling moves.)
I somehow ended up watching all of the DC movies, and I still don't have any clue what kind of tone and atmosphere they're trying to go for. It's all just weird.

You're gonna "like" it.

Re: Movie Thread
You can't blame that travesty on Snipes. Assuming the stories about Wesley just staying in his trailer smoking weed are true, that still doesn't account for the godawfulness of the scenes he wasn't in, the miscasting of Dracula as a guy who looks like a vodka-soaked Bulgarian nightclub bouncer, the fact that Goyer can't direct to save his life and just the terrible script in general.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 9:39 amGood question. I think it's more likely that Snipes decided to be a prick because Goyer pretty much closed him out of everything even though he was a producer. Snipes actually choreographed the fights for I and II. He didn't do it for Trinity and the difference is apparent.
Without the retcon the movie wouldn't have the cool intro, with the vampire Blade leaves alive and says 'Tell me where he is, and I'll consider you a loose end'.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 9:39 amBlade II gets some points removed for retconning Whistler's death
Then at the end Blade ties up all the loose ends

He could've still done that scene with some other bloke they'd kidnapped.
And I think the only fight scene I remember from Trinity included the archer chick, and that's mainly because bows that double as weird lightsaber are too ridiculous to forget.

Who else was there? His supporting cast was Whistler and wymyn doctor, that's it.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:39 pmHe could've still done that scene with some other bloke they'd kidnapped.
The bow and the UV light saw were two different weapons I think.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:39 pmAnd I think the only fight scene I remember from Trinity included the archer chick, and that's mainly because bows that double as weird lightsaber are too ridiculous to forget.

Re: Movie Thread
Tbh it has been a while since I watched Trinity, but I'm pretty sure her bow turns into the UV light saw. That's the entire reason why it's a saw: She just holds her bow like a Bat'leth and has the bow string light up.
He might've gotten himself a new mechanic in the time between I or II. Or it could've been, I dunno, some of these humans working for vampires who got caught after he was about to spill some juicy intel (possibly related to the mad scientist stuff going on later).Keith Chegwin wrote: ↑Sat Apr 14, 2018 6:02 pmWho else was there?
