Re: What are you playing?
I definitely don't recommend playing Arc the Lad 2 right after one. The gameplay is damn near the same except that Arc the Lad 2 has three times the playable cast and a lot more gameplay. Like you said, Arc 1 is essentially a demo disc/demo prequel. If you were power leveling in Arc 1, I can see why you got bored of Arc 2.
Re: What are you playing?
Well that was only 25% of the issue. I wouldnt mind not getting a perfect ending but the main problem is the other issue I mentioned. Are you playing with a guide that tells you who to talk to next and where they are or are you doing it the old skool way of running around blind? I hate padding like this, I dont mind searching for an npc every once in a while (if the previous one at least provided some hints as to who and where) but in this one it seems 75% of the gameplay is running around looking for who to talk to next.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 9:00 amDon't let your autism scare you away. Don't worry about doing a 108 stars run on your first try. Let go the notion of a perfect run and just play the game normally. It's not that long anyway. You'll get more than enough characters without needing to hunt for missable ones. Most rpgs are generous if they let you choose from among 10 potential party members and a 4 person party. Suikoden gives you a 6-person party and potentially 108 party members, but more like 80 in practice.

This gets better in later entries that actually have New Game Plus, so you don't have to worry as much about random encounters during what is essentially the JRPG equivalent of pixel-bitching.

If you're talking about the main story, so far they've been pretty obvious about where to go and what to do. They'll tell you to go see x in y village and give you a hint about the village being in the northwest or some shit.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 4:13 pmWell that was only 25% of the issue. its been a long time but I just remember running through a castle (very beginning of the game) going from room to room trying to find some bitch and after 10 rooms I got tired of the illogical infrastructure and vague description of where this bitch was supposed to be that I dropped the game right there.

Re: What are you playing?
Suikoden V has quite a few instances where you have to backtrack to a previous town to get a character.
There's also some assclown you can find at the end of an optional mine complex who will only join you if you listen to his long and very slow speech without fast-forwarding.

Not to mention that there are several hidden ones, specially in annoying dungeons, but the good endings in 1 and 2 were total bullshit anyway, normal ones by far were better. I remember that getting the good ending in 1 and 2 allowed you to use the main character and other extras in the sequels, I don’t remember if they keep that with 4 and tactics.

I don't remember this part at all. I just played the beginning of suikoden 1 and this doesn't sound familiar.Guest wrote: ↑Fri Jan 22, 2021 4:43 pmits been a long time but I just remember running through a castle (very beginning of the game) going from room to room trying to find some bitch and after 10 rooms I got tired of the illogical infrastructure and vague description of where this bitch was supposed to be that I dropped the game right there.
