According to comments in the Running Shine review the re-writes (aparently all the original script bits are still in the game) actually made the game shittier. So no his shitty mom died and made the game even worse.

Alright now I looked a bit into this Elisa Lam stuff of which the YIIK creator has said "Her suffering was influential in the development in the game", and I don't feel he has used that in awfully good taste, so to speak.
I thinks he just wanted to add some crappy pasta quality to the "game" but screwed even that up.

He's just a creep. Feeling sorry for her has turned into wanting to save and fuck her. Thus his self-insert protagonist - who was totally meant to be a insufferable dickhead guys - gets to be romantic about her.

It's honestly quite revolting.
The mystery is also bullshit. That roof access was open, the tank was open and there are stairs onto a little hut from which you could just jump into that tank.
Some chink went on the roof and found that after the incident, so they didn't bother to tighten security up since then either.
Hardly surprising, as it's basically a crack hotel.

Oh I thought the "mystery" was that even though the roof access was locked, every schmoe could just get up there anyway by using the fire escape stairs at the side of the building.
The rest lines up with what I've read though. I guess most people sperged out about the elevator video where she tried to work out if the sensor that controls the door was faulty or not.
