I don't believe we've ever talked about Earthbound. I've never played it. Although it's on the SNES mini so I suppose I could if I wanted toKugelfisch wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2019 3:35 amI have an extreme deja vu as if we had this very exact same discussion before.

Re: What are you playing?
Earthbound was like anything else--great, cool, and fun until the autists ruined it.
They hyped up the wacky and left out the charm/heart of what it made it was.
All they want to talk about is the offbeat goofiness and how it make them better nerds. What they don't get is that the game is about being a kid, with true, constant values, which is better than an adult or others who are hypocrites, cowardly, and generally lost and out to get them. Because it isn't about them. Its not that the adults are evil, more like they just don't get it. It allows them to focus on the kids weaving their way through the strange world and trying to make sense of it as they grow up. Ness and his friends are constantly praised and rewarded by being the exception to the rule, by having the courage and the willpower to stick it out through the frustrating, confusing, and dangerous.
The neckbards think the game is about being and staying a kid. When actually it's about being mature and staying constant when things are all crazy. The protagonist are children because their "purity of heart" prevents them from being distracted and helps them be adaptable through all the zaniness.
It's telling that all the soy fans just want to be like various NPCs in the game.

Mystic Quest wasn't the only one. There was also Breath of Fire 2 and Lufia 2.Complicity wrote: ↑Mon Sep 23, 2019 10:28 pmAs far as i know, Mystic Quest is the only jrpg which came out in Europe before the Playstation 1 era.
Many never came out after that either, like Valkyrie Profile, Xenosaga part 1 and 3 and Raidou vs King Abaddon
If you want to count Action RPGs as well, the selection effectively multiplies with stuff like Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, and the Soul Blazer trilogy.
There are still games that never made it over here (especially silly with Xenosaga since we only got the middle portion of a trilogy), but it's far less common these days, and has most likely different reasons than "Europeans can't into dem JRPGs".
(There's a good chance more obscure titles like the SMT games that aren't Persona will only be available digitally, though.)

I remember renting earthbound all the time at my video store growing up, they even had the big box and everything. I blame roo for spreading the autism as much as I like him.

its good game, i don't blame him, but i blame these asshat twitch players, with the new Zelda game, saying the story is emotional, even though Everything in the game is a damn dream

Link's Awakening is also a dream. So is Super Mario Bros. 2 and did you know that it's actually a Malaysian game called Duracell Daiquiri Picnic?

Re: What are you playing?
Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda game, but I think the DX version is pretty much flawless as-is and didn't need a remake. It just needed to be more accessible legally, which is a problem all of nintendo's old games have.
In summary, fuck nintendo. Selling you a $6 virtual console game for $60 is insane jewing at its finest. And for what? New graphics? Bitch please. The original game looks perfectly fine and if you play zelda games for the graphics, you are doing it wrong.

I didn't even know there was a remake of it. I was talking about DX.

Re: What are you playing?
The remake is why all these faggots and shills are even discussing Link's Awakening, let alone playing it. They're paying $60 to play a game boy game that sells on nintendo's own shitty virtual console website for $6.
