Why pay for video games in the first place?

Convenience. Between quality and price, price will win. Between price and convenience, convenience will win.
Offers don't actually have to be good. I've seen people driving very long distances to a store to save less on an item than the gas to get there costs them. People will buy shit they don't need at all and never would've bought as long as it's discounted. It's the feeling of getting a bargain that counts, not if money is actually saved.
