Not that I had anything to do with the production of this, but I couldn't figure out where else to post this: three years ago, towards the end of my service, the army enlisted my battalion to help with the filming of this shitty commercial for the Estonian military school. No build-up or anything, as is the army way - just "you'll be on the field today". And when we got there, the cameras were rolling.

You'll see me in the wide shot, 36 seconds in. Note the terrible CGI helicopters that most assuredly were not there on the day of shooting. Also, when I say "you'll see me", I mean you'll see me standing in about six different locations, because they were so desperate to beef up the numbers.

In the aftermath, this thing came under fire from the Russians, who accused us of racism. Because of the bear, I think.

The military school is for professionals only. The conscripted just show up to the base on the required day and get cracking.

Conscription is more of a mechanism to build a reserve. They treat you very differently than they do career soldiers.
Also for civilian jobs within the military. They want to make being a car mechanic for the military look more badass than it is.
