Hashtags are always shit because they have been used as a political tool ever since the Arab spring. They are the ultimate tool of slacktivism and actively encourages attention whoring since any fuck with 50 followers can be as obnoxious as possible to get many likes and retweets. And the whole twitter format of limited characters encourages fuckers to talk in sound bites rather than like normal people, everyone is trying to make a political statement and have a conversation with nothing but snarky statements trying to "own" someone rather than an actual discussion.

This is why you have seen the opposite happen on youtube with long as fuck streams and podcasts. Most people hate twitter autists, and their video format cable news, and want to actually talk about shit without being a snarky shithead. Everyone blames "social media" for all this divisive cancer but twitter is the main culprit. Facebook is shit but all of the drama involving careers being destroyed always happens on twitter.
