This is true in general for a lot of scientists. And not just in terms of other scientific fields but knowledge in general. Look at Ben Carson, amazing surgeon but when he talks politics he is a typical dopey religious conservative. Since scientists likely have higher levels of autism, there knowledge is going to be extremely highly specialised rather than some broad knowledge of everything.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2017 6:07 pmYou know, there has always been this odd fallacy in media where scientists are seen as these wizards that know absolutely everything. When the truth is scientists are people that focus on only one field of science. Like a while ago, Neil DeGrasse Tyson tweeted something utterly wrong about zoological sex. Because that's not his field and he's just a layman in that subject like the rest of us.
Similarly, Bill Nye could probably teach you a lot about how to build jet planes and probably has a good handle on physics. But he is not at all qualified to speak about biology or anything else outside his field. The "Science Guy" persona is just a TV character.

I think we can blame the new atheists for spreading the myth that scientists are all geniuses who know everything about any subject. Even within their fields of expertise, there is sometimes controversy (not "creationist" controversy-actual controversy) and the loudmouth scientists are just the ones who have taken a position and are loudly shouting it about.
You see that shit a LOT in archeology and anthropology IMO. There's a lot of stuff we just don't know and a lot of the scientists doing work in those fields choose to take a position rather than reserving judgement. I guess it's understandable when you consider that we probably will never know the answers to those questions.

Get lots of sugar blown up your arse all the time and you start to believe you're a universal genius. You don't even have to be a scientist of any kind for that. Take a gander at social "science" fags. Better, just at their first year students. They believe they can explain the world to you.

The shithead professors that also didn't ever leave school. What came first, the chicken or the egg? One becomes the other, one creates the other. Same shit, in the end. None are innocent. On the list with the lot of them. If you even consider such a bullshit "degree" you're a lost cause and only fit for hanging on a tree by your neck.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2017 2:15 amTo be fair, they're young and their shithead professors drill that idea into them.

It's the snake that eats its own tail, except this time the snake is feeding itself huge mountains of bullshit.
