Section 8, welfare, food stamps, medicaid, these are all government funded systems here. A lot of people like to game the system here by having a kid (or multiple) and then just living off the government because you're almost guaranteed to get it that way. They are trying to take steps to try and ween people off it, like requiring them to get a part time job, but for the most part nothing big has come yet.
