His new character this week looks like Some Jew With a Camera, Goldmark.

Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
Seriously ? That's funny, because back in the day he would shit on that movie all he can.
They even made a second video to address the criticism they've got from Ridley Scott fans.
As far as I remember in case of that movie there was a point that the movie did not portray scientists with the proper respect, but as dumb irresponsible action hero type characters. Fair enough, but I don't think reevaluating the movie you can brush away this kind of criticism. You could made a point about the plot or characters, but not something like this.
At the time it was a popular thing to shit at the movie, especially after RLM did their video. It generally became like with the star wars prequels, that even someone without strong feelings towards the movie would repeat the talking points how the film is absolute garbage.
After Covenant was released I've seen a similar thing with that movie, the consensus was that it was worse then Prometheus and the reealuation of it and saying it was not that bad begun. Now I'm pretty sure that this is only a pretense to criticise Ridley Scott. He probably is a overrated director, but the way they chose to express it is as dumb as it was in Snyder's case.

Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
People who say it wasn't that bad usually talk about it being a very beautiful movie, well shot, with better first half. Which might be true, but I can't get over the god awful characters and shitty story in general, good cinematography or soundtrack cannot carry the whole movie and it still ends up being bad. If the android ends up being the most interesting thing in an Alien prequel, it's because everything else was so mundaine. Sure, I suppose we could argue that objectively, it's not that bad, but my impressions are subjective and subjectively, I think Prometheus is pretty bad.
Ridley Scott is another George Lucas at this point, a person who has lost any idea of what made their movies great to begin with, forgot how to make them, and there is nobody around them who would dare to tell them their ideas are shit.

Re: Brad Jones, The Cinema Snob
I'm one of those who will say prometheus wasn't AS bad as people say.
But it's still bad. I can't defend it as a film. I just like it for some weird reason. I like Scott's directing and I found it more interesting than it probably deserved. There were some interesting connections made between the film and the original Alien movie. I liked that the film seemed to be taking its direction more from Alien 1 than Aliens. Aliens is the film that always got more attention among nerds, but I like Alien much more.
Again, Prometheus isn't a GOOD movie. The dialogue is pretty bad, the religious shit was unnecessary and many of the sequences leave you scratching your head as to who thought it would be a good idea to have zombies or squids flailing around in a supposedly cerebral sci-fi horror thriller.
But I picked up a copy of the film for a dollar or two at some secondhand shop, and I bet I could still pop it in and enjoy the movie. There are a few shitty movies I like despite them being shitty, like the Thomas Jane punisher movie. Atmospheric science fiction horror films are still extremely rare (at least cyberpunk genre fanatics can fall back on anime), and I enjoyed the mood, sound and visuals.
I think Scott has more talent than Lucas, even now. Prometheus was a low point for him. His Man on the High Castle stuff was alright, so I feel he's beginning to recover his focus and go on to make new shit, rather than wallowing in his old, popular movies forever, like Lucas did.
