Making movie reviews that are longer then the actual films themselves(and only just that 1 film, not covering say the entire series of films) has got to be the most autistic thing ever.
In general, these super long videos are usually pretentious, obnoxious and way longer than they need to be, and the shocking part is that it's not just some rambling cuck, but they are edited. Anderson has like 8 hour video about Witcher. Fuck him. To these hacks, it's just masturbation to show off that they can make really long videos. But at least Anderson has to go through rather long games, Mauler is just a soycuck who wastes everybody's time talking about movies that aren't even worth discussing at lenght - they suck and won't suck less if you make a very gay 3 hour video about them.
You can fill hours with interesting points and discussion, but that requires actual effort, long-term passion for the thing (no, just sitting down for a month and trying to read a book over and over will not help you) and cutting down the boring stuff. They never do that.
There is a reason why when somebody actually writes a successful book studying something, they invest years into that. These jewtubers are like DIY version of that.
Aka smart people can explain themselves with few words. Also smart people can explain their views to an audience fast and consize, in fact the shorter the better. I university I never reached the minimal word limit which I got stressed out over for my first months or so, until some professor actually commended me for it saying if you manage to talk about all aspects of the subject and get your points across in less words thats actually rather impressive. You cut out all the meaningless fat and needless disctractions for your readers, this only gives them information critical to the subject you are discussing which in turn will allow the reader to grasp the concept faster.
I did notice this crap got a whole lot more popular when youtube changed some things. I think it has to do with needing like 4000 viewer minutes before you can monotize and having viewer retention for hours on ad is probably a good stat and good for ads. The reason they do it is GREED, nothing more nothing less.
